About the Agent

Kayla Hoyet studied Creative Writing at Ball State University. She’s worn several hats in the publishing industry, working at a small press and interning with several literary agencies doing everything from pitch letters and editorial work to social media marketing.  Kayla found herself fascinated with the world behind the books after leaving college, and hasn’t looked back. She founded Reverie Literary in 2020 with the goal of doing things a little differently and putting the person back into the publishing.

A life-long lover of reading, Kayla spent several years overseas in Japan when she was younger, and is fascinated with non-Western cultures and history. She is an active advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, victims of domestic abuse, and disability awareness and inclusion. In her free time, as she always has, she loves to read. Her current favorites include The Book of Longings, One of Us is Lying, The Grief Keeper, Life and Death are Wearing Me Out, Daisy Jones and The Six, and The Turn of the Key.

She will unashamedly re-read her collection of Harry Potter books until the pages fall out, and has read The Green Mile, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and Emma enough that she could probably quote them for you. She has always enjoyed a book that takes her on an adventure-fantastical or otherwise-and packs a strong emotional punch. She’s looking forward to a new kind of adventure with Reverie Literary.
